Why I am not convinced with Cream Silk Fresh Hydration Conditioner

How often do you wash your hair? Are you like me who uses hair shampoo and hair conditioner separately? 

On a regular day like weekdays, I normally wash my hair once, in the morning when I go to work. My go-to shampoo and conditioner are separately and of different brands. Hair shampoo cannot be used alone as hair management since it will leave a frizzy and tangled looking hair. A shampoo is best for cleansing the hair from unwanted purities you can get outdoors- a good example is exposing under the sun or air pollution when traveling. Hair conditioner can add shine, condition your hair according to your style- making strands soft and smooth. 

As far as I remember, I have known and been using this brand of hair conditioner since I was in high school. Cream Silk was introduced to me by my cousins and since then it has been our brand. Although, it is always exciting to try out other brands in the market especially when something new comes out. But we always go back to Cream Silk!  

From the original variants of Cream Silk conditioner line, they came up with a new variety, which I purchased for free over at Sample Room, try before you buy, a site where you can avail products from different brands for FREE. Now the verdict, after a couple of weeks of using, out of the two, I am not convinced with fresh hydration variant as what the brand claims. Upon opening the tube and saw the thin consistency of the product that I need to add triple the amount compared to the original variety of Cream Silk just to cover my shoulder length hair. So after the shower and drying my hair with a towel, hair still has tangles leaving some areas not manageable to comb. I also don't like the scent of this. After nine hours indoor and a total of an hour outdoor for the commute, my hair smells smoke from the public transport. I'm glad that I was able to get this for free before I buy it, it will be a total loss of money. 

This variety of Cream Silk passed my standards when it comes to hair conditioner, I like the consistency, the smell is lovely and it really gives that nourishing and smooth, straight feel after use. What I don't like is, it is too pricey compared to the original variety. But, if you have extra budget for hair products for use, you can invest in this one. You only need a small amount every use and it can give you that effect you wanted, most especially if you style your hair using a hair iron or blow dry it. 

Still, the brand Cream Silk still wins my heart when it comes to hair products for everyday use. I will be switching back to the original variety asap.

#Review: Betadine Fresh Bliss Daily Feminine Wash Lavender Dreams

During my college years, the scent of Betadine antiseptic solution lingers when we enter the rooms in the hospital where our groups were assigned. It was the very basic antiseptic needed for surgery. It was a little pricey too when you buy a small bottle preparation for first-aid household use.

Over the years, Betadine came up with a formulation specifically for hygiene purposes. And, with the name of the brand, it got my trust in an instant.

A few years back I purchased a small bottle of Betadine somewhat similar to the wound antiseptic bottle, but it was meant as a feminine wash.

The same color and a little hint of that Betadine scent. It was not advised to use it daily according to some medical expert and in just a few drops it can give you that cleanse and fresh feeling.

For Php 123.00 for a bottle of 250ml, Betadine claims to give daily gentle cleansing with Anti-Itch Avena Oats. 

Did you know that an average vaginal pH balance varies significantly during a woman's lifespan.

From 7.0 for pre-menarch or the onset of menstruation to 3.8-4.4 for reproductive age up to menopausal (6.5-7.0 with or 4.5-5.0 without hormone therapy). So if those numbers went significantly high or low an infection can trigger.

An ordinary bath soap is not recommended as a feminine wash as it contains some chemicals that can affect the pH balance. This brand claims that it is a Paraben-free formula that can irritate. It is clinically tested as the brand stated.

Every time I purchase new products in the market that came from a trusted brand like this one I am always excited to try it for myself. This would be perfect and right in time as the red flag is nearing. I will update this blog post once I start using this.

Maybelline Colorshow Lipsticks in Nude Mocha + True Toffee

It was a payday shopping day for me yesterday! 

This past few days I was hopping around beauty selling sites to scout for some tube of lipstick which I was planning to buy. I do have some Zalora credits on my account and some items on my cart which I picked a few weeks ago. But, I was hesitant to use my credits thinking I might get some more items I needed. So, I decided to buy items I wanted in the physical store using cash. And, because it was payday and a Wednesday too, I purchased items from SM City Olongapo which gave me 10% off the total with the minimum of P2,000 purchase. 

I went to the home section, to women's and down to Watson's area were make-ups and toiletries are located and that was my last pit stop from last night. 

I am excited about these new tubes of lipstick I got from Maybelline. After several swatches of the tester items. I decided to get the Maybelline Colorshow collection in #305 Nude Mocha and #301 True Toffee. This is the shade of colors in season right now. 

You see those creamy nice colors? Yep, they are truly nice to look at. They look yummy! lol 

I made swatches to compare and the one on the top is the True Toffee shade and Nude Mocha was at the bottom. 

I couldn't resist to apply it on my lips last night though I look so tired! I took some selfies using a filter camera app to lighten my skin...I don't want to present my haggard-looking face while testing out some beautiful shades of lipstick, haha!

As you can see I split the application of the two lipstick. The one in the left-facing you are the Nude Mocha and in the right the True Toffee shade.

Also, I chose the Nude Mocha shade for my lip color this morning at work and it looks exactly the same as the color in the tube as to when applied to the lips. 

I am a Maybelline user, I still have a few of the lipsticks I own from a beauty blogger from the Rebel Bouquet selection unopened. I am saving a few of those in case I need some shade of pink to red in the future. For a friendly price of Php 175.00 per tube of Maybelline Colorshow, I can say this is the most affordable, over the counter brand of lipstick which everyone can avail. It is creamy, glides perfectly, the color stays for hours though it is not a kiss-proof lipstick.  Maybelline Colorshow collection does have a good selection of shade one can choose from. 

Btw, you need to excuse my eye make-up from this photo. I can never do justice with lashes because mine is so thin and sparse. I need to find the best eyelash serum product in the market for me to try on. I am positive it will give me that added lashes I dreamt of! 

I spent a little with the brand I like and made my self smile. :)

Product Test: Ecocamel Orbit SoftWater A Shower Revolution

If I were to be asked on what part of the house would I consider the most relaxing area. 

I can instantly answer that the most relaxing area would be the bathroom. After a long day of work and other things needed to be done outside the comfort of your home, a relaxing bath would be the best thing to have. 

When I have time I can take a long shower no matter what time of the day, but a good refreshing quick shower just to refresh you can do just fine. Although a typical household structure here in the Philippines is not usually built with a shower in their bathrooms. But, as I noticed that kind of method to take baths, it consumed more than water needed from the water being spilled every full water in the dipper.

In the recent studies about climate change, one significant item we are experiencing right now is drought, a shortage of water due to abnormal low rainfall. It is being experienced roughly around the globe and most of the time tropical countries like the Philippines are greatly affected by it. 

What we can do to help lessen the cause of such? We can do little things such as conserve water consumption, where we can all start in our home.

I estimate a typical shower time for an adult would be around 8-10 minutes, but this will vary on your water supply and your installed shower head.

A couple of months ago I received a package all the way from the UK that contains one Ecocamel Orbit SoftWater showerhead for a product test.

Water crisscrossing coming out of the rubber nodules. Since it is a hand-held shower having water coming out from it we normally think that it will gain more weight added to it, but still, it was easy to lift and handle. Giving you more freedom and access to use it freely. And, a super plus for me is the ergonomic and innovative design for a modern look.

A little noticeable thing from the product was the soft-vibrating, water pressure sound from the handle itself. 

I somehow made a comparison on the one installed in our bathroom and I had a good site on how we will be managing two showers if this new Ecocamel is installed permanently. 

We can install this Ecocamel Orbit SoftWater as an additional accessory in the bathroom for a hand-held shower. Once this is installed that is when I can figure out the water consumption and do a comparison. I will update this blog post with the item.

Add Extra Protection for your Face, Hair and Skin

When you start to age your skin will show unwanted marks and line, and to some, the worst scenario can be skin breakage that can lead to infection. 

There was a part of my life when my face was covered with pimples and led to acne and this was during my adult life. I became depressed with my skin condition that time. Really our face skin can make a great impact on how we live our everyday life.

I turned 42 last December and evidently, my skin shows aging... the thing we all women are scared of. When I was younger my fear of turning 30 made me nervous but when I surpassed that number and years gone by, all I can think of is to maintain how I look, on how to present my self when I am out in public. I know some can go to the extent that they spend the whole day in their bedroom in front of the vanity mirror or even go to skin specialist...if you can afford please do so. 

For me, I like to check on new products in the market or even skin products that I received or given to me as gifts and try it out. I always give faith to the brand and as long as it doesn't give my skin a negative reaction or sensitivity I will stick to it until the last drop. 

So for my added protection and aid for my skin and hair, these are the products I am currently using. A couple of it is very new to me and I will give justice to the brand for a quick insight. 

Etude House Happy Time Cleanser Aloe Vera

I remember when I was a kid we have this large pots of aloe vera my Nanay (grandmother) grew. And, she always encouraged us to use the aloe vera to grow hair and it is also to aide natural shine to hair strands. So I am very much aware of what aloe vera looks like especially the scent. So when I opened the tub I remember my childhood.
Happy time cleanser can be used for makeup removal by massaging the cream all-over your face. Wipe it out with cotton balls or even a soft cloth. Rinse face after every use.
This can be used as an added help to remove make-up, I noticed that Pond's facial wash can't remove all that stubborn color from make-up especially on the eyes. But with this cleanser, it works fine. You just need to be careful when applying near the eyes since it can get your eye red and watery. The cream is white in color and cold and smells amazing.

Pantene Pro-V All Day Smooth Miracle Water

Every now and then I tried to switch hair care brands and Pantene is always included in it. Having a long hair and maintaining the length for some time now literally consume time. So every after shower before leaving the house I use this with two pumps of the product and apply it all over my damped hair from top to the tips, and make a bun until I reach the office to have it fixed. It can create a smooth and easy to manage hair especially mine. It has a mild scent too. The plastic bottle has a pump so you can regulate the amount you need. From the name of the product brand "Miracle Water," you can get the idea of what you can benefit from it. Some side-down of this product is the price. It is pricey to regular consumers who can't afford an extra hair-care brand along with their daily. This is my last bottle and I might not push to buy a new one for the price reasonable. I hope Pantene can do something about this and let the consumer enjoy the product at a little cheaper price. 

Neutrogena Age-Shield Face Oil-free Lotion

Is it just me or some of you hate sunscreen? Not for the effective use of it but why does screen lotion feel so sticky. Taken that we are in a humid country but sunscreen can really put you from confident feel to feeling haggard. But, we all need sunscreen for reasons! Protecting out entire skin from harmful sun rays that can cause aging and even worse is skin cancer. I am using this every time I don't need to wear makeup like going to the market on weekend morning or when I ride my bike passed the safe time to go under the sun. As what the product claims to be an oil-free lotion it still feels sticky and makes my skin sweaty too. But, I still use it...thinking of the main purpose of protecting my skin to harmful sun rays. 

I got this tube at Royal DF shop a couple of months ago and it was on sale for less the 30%, that is why I bought it. 

So there you have it, my latest addition to my skin, hair and face products to aid and help protect my skin from aging.

Look what I brought to work? #GumAlive The Spa Toothpaste! This was part of my prize from Ms.Prelel from her blog and just recently we tried the full tube at home.

Citrus Farms Calamansi Concentrate

During my weekend trip to Royal Duty-Free shop here in Subic Bay, we discovered this new concentrated drink product that is so perfect to have this season.

Since we love calamansi juice and recently calamansi fruit is very abundant and cheap on the market. You can buy a kilo of calamansi for only Php40 or less than a dollar. To lessen your time to squeeze every single piece of calamansi and remove the seeds too, you can rely on this bottled calamansi concentrate and get an instant calamansi juice with the choice of hot or cold to drink. 

In my Ellen straw cup I added about 3tbsp of the concentrate with cold water and ice, it was a bit sweet will be adjusting the amount next time. 

For the taste, evidently, it has the scent and citrusy flavor of the calamansi. 

We bought two bottles to try and each bottle cost Php180 ($3.68). 

Btw, a little brief description of the calamansi or the Philippine lime. It is a small, very round citrus fruit that is abundant in the Philippines. It is used when the color of the skin is still green. It has seeds in it which you need to remove when taking the juice out. Calamansi can be used as a food flavoring, in ice cream, meat dishes, pastries and even as an additive in soap. 

if you are into citrus juices you can try this and enjoy the goodness of calamansi in a bottle. 

Enjoying the Goodness of Emborg Dairy Products!

How do you love grocery shopping? For me grocery shopping is my therapy, I find happiness every time I visit a grocery store for a large or small quantity of products I need to buy. I like stocking on things especially the necessities because I can save more and can get the freshest items of course!

When I ran out of anything needed in the kitchen most especially the ones for cooking I get a little stress out. This coming holiday season, better get a little of everything you need and stock ém up for later use. 

Today, I am going to share my latest dairy find in the grocery. 

I picked up these two last night at SM supermarket in Olongapo along with my list of items we need. 

Emborg is a product of Denmark and locally sold here in the Philippines. My first dibs of this brand was from the duty-free shop inside the Subic Freeport and I am glad that it is now available at the local supermarket like SM.

Emborg cream cheese and skimmed milk were my breakfast buddies this morning before I left home.

The containers have 200 grams of cream cheese, the cheese is spreadable a little like the "kesong puti" (comparable to cottage cheese) that is locally made cheese here in the Philippines, a little less salty version of it.

Each container sells at Php94.50 ($1.92) way cheaper than the other imported brands of cream cheese sold in the supermarket plus it has its own easy open container to protect the cheese product inside. I used to buy Philadelphia cream cheese bar not until I discovered this. 

Two points that totally convinced me of this product brand: 

1. price 

2. taste 

Emborg skimmed milk was a good pairing for my Starbucks Sumatra dark roast (no sugar). It has a fresh and creamy taste when I mixed just enough of the skimmed milk over my coffee. A liter box of Emborg skimmed milk cost Php74.50 ($1.51) almost the same as Anchor lite and Anchor fresh milk, which was our brand before. I can switch every now and then for Anchor and Emborg since they both passed my criteria for milk in cartons.

A good source of calcium which I never neglect of having not just for me but for all of us at home, whether it is mixed with cereals, coffee, and chocolate drink. 

Each serving can give you different vitamins and minerals the body needs, most especially the kids.

It is fun and exciting to discover new products in the grocery and eventually sticking to it as a regular product brand the family use.
