What is Your Favorite Costume to Wear

A costume represents a culture of a certain place, a religion and a tradition, gender and position. It is handed down through generation to generation. It is an evolving fashion of a certain place and group of people. It is called a dress, attire or a robe to wear. It can be categorized as a theatrical and national costume.

"National costume or regional costume expresses local (or exiled) identity and emphasizes a culture's unique attributes. They are often a source of national pride."
"Costume often refers to a particular style of clothing worn to portray the wearer as a character or type of character at a social event in a theatrical performance on the stage or in film or television. In combination with other aspects of stagecraft, theatrical costumes can help actors portray characters' and their contexts as well as communicate information about the historical period/era, geographic location and time of day, season or weather of the theatrical performance."

A costume can go as a colorful, elaborate and grand. Materials such as the kind of fabric being used, buttons and sequins, and color can vary and can be a factor.

As everyday wear, the costume is always involving. Kids are always fascinated and amazed about wearing costumes for a party or just an evening pajama costume to wear. You can buy ready-to-wear costumes in the mall or even online for a mascot costume

During the olden times, costumes were hand made, a group of men and women are assigned in batches and stages in weaving and hand sewing parts of the costume. The demand for costume during that time was large in scale and needed to be produced in bulk.

A pair or two of your kids' favorite costume are always included in their closet, based on my personal experience. When my kids were little we always have their favorite costumes available.

Typically, costumes that replicate their favorite superhero, a favorite cartoon character or their favorite animal like a tiger mascot costume are always requested.

If you can notice too when you go to fast-food chains, a mascot wearing costume is always there as a representation of their store to attract customers especially kids. This is one of the best marketing strategies to promote their brand to the public. A familiarity of the brand through a colorful, big, moving characterized object.

Even in sporting events, a mascot wearing a costume is very popular.

  1. I do cosplay, so I have lots of costumes. I really love my steampunk character I created. But I have done a pregnant Padme Amidala from Star Wars, Sweet Pea from Sucker Punch, Mrs. Darth Vader and a Lara Croft elf for Christmas. We dress up as a family here :)

  4. My kids love their costumes, not just at Halloween. My oldest has a Spiderman costume that he has had for 2 years, but still wears when he plays. He is starting to outgrow it so a new one will be in his future. Our kids love to play dress up. They like to put on costumes to portray firefighters, doctors, and teachers. When I was a kid my favorite costume to wear was a an angel. As an adult, I don't have 'costumes' per se, but I love dressing up in a dress on special occasions. My dresses are my favorite as an adult.

  6. I like to wear costumes of historical figures. I have an Anne Boleyn costume, before she lost her head. My daughter likes to dress as creepy things, like clowns.

  9. My favorite costume I ever wore was Abby from NCIS. If you don't know the character, it's kind of generic and random. It was so much fun every time someone knew who I was!
