5 Benefits of Installing Solar Lights

Update:

We are gradually transitioning to solar lights as an additional source of light, and we recently purchased another set for the dirty kitchen. It's a smaller one this time, and the solar panel is connected by cable lines. You can see a video of our 45-watt solar lights that we recently placed here.

"A solar lamp, also known as solar light or solar lantern, is a lighting system that includes an LED light, solar panels, a battery, a charge controller, and sometimes an inverter. The lamp is powered by batteries that are charged via solar panels (solar photovoltaic panels)"- Wikipedia

A solar panel that captures energy from the sun and turns it into electrical power for the light to operate. A nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) rechargeable battery is used to store the energy. A sensor turns on and off the battery, allowing it to turn on automatically at sundown and switch off at sunrise. The light is produced by an LED lamp.

The length of time the light lasts depends on the size of the solar panel and battery. Solar energy can normally last for about 10 hours with a fully charged battery. The brightness of an LED lamp is comparable to that of a 2-watt bulb. To operate, a low-voltage landscape light requires 12 volts of energy.

Solar rechargeable batteries last about 1,000 nights and are simple to replace when they run out of power.

Choosing "the ideal" outdoor solar lighting is a personal preference. Lights that are decorative, classic, modern, or even fantastical may be appropriate. Decks, patios, pools, pathways, driveways, and gardens are all ideal places to put solar lights. Whatever type of solar lights you want, you will not have trouble finding one that you will enjoy for many years.

This is my second purchase of solar lights; the first was a portable-handheld solar light with only 20 LED lights that I used to charge and then transport to the bathroom at night to save electricity. When I saw how much of a difference there was and how much money we saved on power, I was convinced and made this second purchase when we moved into our new home.

I went from 20 LED portable solar box panels to 720 LEDs with 450W, which is still the largest solar panel I've seen online. The price difference between the first and second purchase is shown below:

Php 330.00 for 20 LEDs at Php 66.00 each (purchased 5)

Php 1460.00 for 720 LEDs (including the shipping cost with discounts on vouchers, etc).

Benefits of installing and buying solar panel lights:

  1. Solar panel lights set in a specific area of your home can provide enhanced safety and security, which has been demonstrated to be the most useful component of solar-powered home lighting.
  2. Home security, particularly in areas where homes are vulnerable to break-ins, will alert would-be attackers by giving the impression that your home is occupied or bustling.
  3. An area with solar lights can be used as an extension of the house, such as the backyard or garden, to hang out with the family, or it can be converted into a coffee table or barbeque zone. Because it is well-lit at night, it may also be used as a pathway for walking without causing accidents or tripping.
  4. You don't need to hire an electrician to install solar panels because you can do it yourself. The most important thing is to put it in a location where it will get the most sunlight during the day.
  5. Solar power is the primary source of renewal energy- a great way to lead us to Go Green. It will reduce electricity consumption and will help save money which is something we all want!

As of this writing, the solar panel lights we bought are performing well. The brightness adjustment from brightest to darkest is excellent. The brightest setting astounds me since it can light up the largest area in the backyard while limiting the usage of additional lights that consume electricity. I'm looking forward to seeing how long the rechargeable batteries last.

  1. I love my solar panel Christmas lights. I never had to worry about turning on my Christmas lights all season. They automatically turned on when it started getting dark. Stayed on for 10 hours or so. I want to switch all of my holiday lights over to solar.

  3. We have only had solar ground lights but added on this past year with outdoor solar lights. These replaced our electric LED lights. I really like them. We plan to add more this year.
