I'm Thankful For Today and Every day of My Life

Life is not always as perfect as we wish for, but we can make our life meaningful and worthwhile every day no matter what circumstances we have. As we give thanks in general and to honor Thanksgiving Day, I made my own list.

-I am thankful for my family, I don't have the perfect one but I still have the sense of belongingness when things get tough.

-I am thankful for my kids, two different personalities, traits, and attitudes. I know the stage of being a teenager is tough and when your kids stepped out of the house, the struggle of peer pressure they need to face...all part of life.

-I am thankful for the relationship I have right now, less disagreement, less disappointment and spending each day easy.

-I am thankful for friends who I can turn to and willing to share a hand, laughter, and tears. Life wouldn't be complete without friends in your life. People can come and go, friends will stick with you as a magnet.

-I am thankful for opportunities that come along the way. It helped and continuously help me to strive and learn more. It opens a door for me to share my own experiences in life and for that, I am being rewarded at the same time.

-I am thankful for wonderful, outpouring blessings I got this year, things I did not expect came in different forms and different degrees of happiness. Things that made life a little exciting and easy.

-I am thankful for each morning, I get to witness the sun peeking out everytime it rises each morning and capturing the majestic nature's wonder.

Thank you for reading and enjoy the #sunrise #timelapses I made. <3

Announcement of New Classification of Blood Pressure Levels 2017

Article posted November 15, 2017, regarding the new classification of blood pressure (BP) levels, through American College of Cardiology (ACC) and American Heart Association (AHA) along with their partners- 2017 ACC/AHA/AAPA/ABC/ACPM/AGS/APhA/ASH/ASPC/NMA/PCNA Guideline for the Prevention, Detection, Evaluation and Management of High Blood Pressure in Adults.
The update was from 2013 developed guidelines which decided to discontinue the mentioned.

Hypertension is the leading risk factor when it comes to cardiovascular diseases, that can lead to death and disability. Factors like genetics, lifestyle, and age are some of the reasons why a person's blood pressure can be considered alarming. With these factors, I am much concerned with the younger generation that for me I get to have the initial statistics. As a nurse and practicing in a College school, one of my implementing assessment for students is to have their blood pressure monitored. From this, I was able to get the numbers and surprisingly identifying some of them with elevated BP. Health teachings, informing the parent's and guardians and completing the 3-5-day BP monitoring before I refer them to the specialist or doctor of their choice. Immediate identification of possible hypertensive patients can help alleviate their numbers.

Kindly refer below (Table 1) for the categories being implemented in assessing Hypertension in Adults.

http://www.acc.org/latest-in-cardiology/articles/2017/11/14/14/42/the-2017-high-blood-pressure-guideline-risk-reduction-through-better-management

The diagnosis of hypertension should be based on an average of ≥2 carefully recorded readings obtained on ≥2 occasions. Out-of-office and self-monitoring of BP measurements are recommended to confirm the diagnosis of hypertension and for titration of BP-lowering medication, in conjunction with clinical interventions and telehealth counseling.

Attract Recruiters to Your LinkedIn Profile Now

If you’re looking for your next job, one of the most powerful tools available to you is LinkedIn: a social network based entirely around people’s professional skills, where your main presence is your CV.
As with all the best tools, it’s possible to use LinkedIn badly and well, and getting good at it takes some time and skill. If you’re trying to get an Executive Recruitment firm interested in your LinkedIn profile, here are some steps you can take right now.

Key Words
Think about the sort of job you want to do: the job title, key skills, and qualifications and reduce this down to three key terms. You could this by looking at current job postings you want to compete for and selecting the most important terms from them. For example, let’s say you’re looking for ‘Senior Accountant’ roles with ‘ACA Qualification’ and experience in ‘Profitability Analysis’.
Make sure you add these terms multiple times to your profile. You have opportunities in the Headline below your name, the Summary section and throughout your work history, skills and education. Loading your profile in this way ensures you appear when recruiters search for those terms and put you on their radar right away.

Sell Yourself Straight Away
So, you’ve stacked the deck to ensure you’re appearing on the first page of results when recruiters search for candidates for the jobs you want. How do you capture their attention and make sure they shortlist your profile?
Your ‘tagline is a great place to start: it’s one of the first things recruiters look at and it’s a chance to get a short, punchy message that imprints on them that you’re worth looking at. Be dynamic, and include at least one of the key search terms you identified above. This reassures them that their search has returned a useful result. “Senior ACA Qualified Accountant, making the numbers add up” is a short, memorable introduction reinforcing one of your important identifiers, for example.

Maximise Your Summary
Your summary is the most important part of your profile: it’s like the covering letter for the rest of the page.  This is where recruiters will decide to contact you or not.
Shamelessly top load it with relevant information: this is no time for false modesty. People are only reading this because they want to know about your qualifications and experience. Use the first person to introduce yourself to the length of your experience, and your professional qualifications.

Go on to list your specialisms and the projects that you’ve used them in. Make sure you’re using your keywords, and recruiters will be beating a path to your door.

The Best Jobs in Social Work

If you’ve trained as a social worker, you owe it to yourself to look for great social work jobs. As a career, it can be grueling, with hard work and low resources to help all the people you need to, but finding the right job with the right service can make it the most rewarding job you ever do, where you get to make a real, positive difference to vulnerable people.

Finding the best jobs in social work isn’t simply a matter of Googling ‘great social work jobs’ and applying for them. They will differ from person to person: everyone goes into social work with a different interest and motivation, and the ideal job for one person won’t be an ideal job for another.

So, the first step towards finding your ideal job is knowing what you want to do. If you don’t feel you have a clear idea about this, look back on work placements you did while you were studying: what particularly stood out to you as a rewarding time? If nothing else, this should give you some pointers about whether you like working as part of a big institution, like a hospital or a smaller one where you have less support but more independence.

If you’re coming straight out of your training, it makes sense to talk to the people who have taught you and supervised during work experience for guidance on where to look for your first job. It’s not realistic to hope to go into your ideal job immediately but your first placements will give you both the experience you need and the chance to build a reputation for being reliable and hardworking that will allow you to pick and choose the later steps in your career.

When you have a clear idea of your goals, as described above, you should speak to a specialist recruiting firm. Ordinary recruiters aren’t experienced with NHS and social work placements and won’t be able to match you with the vacancies you really want.

Finding someone who does specialise in getting trained medical and social carers jobs will be a noticeable step up for you. Make sure you are clear about what you want, and the experience that means you can do it. Being confident in yourself and what you want and communicating that clearly is the key to getting the best jobs in social work: the jobs you want to do.
